Levi and the pants that were always too big

So I bought these pants from Babies R Us a long time ago, hoping that Levi would fit into them. I think I bought them in Feb, and because the pants said 3-6 months I thought for sure he'd be able to wear them in March or April, or even in May. But for some reason every time I put the pants on him they just swallowed him up. It was like the pants would grow bigger every time, or something to that exaggeration. But last night Justin got bored and decided to put on Levi's pants and shoes and an argyle sweater on our boy. Yes, a sweater and pants in July. Good thing for air conditioning huh. And so here he is, in the pants that finally fit him.

This is Levi, Justin is trying to get him to do a Michael Jackson pose.

Of all the stupid things out there

Can a Pool get you Pregnant???

"Magdalena Kwiatkowska of Poland thinks you can. She is suing an Egyptian hotel because she claims her 13-year-old daughter became impregnated after swimming in its pool during their recent holiday. Ms.Kwiatkowska says that there must have been errant sperm floating around just waiting to implant themselves in an unsuspecting female taking a dip. She swears that her daughter did not meet any boys during their vacation, so the mysterious sperm in the pool had to be the culprit."

I found this story on AOL. How ridiculous! Someone's in denial about her kid having relations with someone on vacation. I never thought people could be that stupid.

Baby Food Makin' Mamas and Papas

So I am not a crunchy granola, tree huggin', cloth diapering, garden growing, aluminum can recycling type of Mom. Not that those are bad things, cause they aren't. And honestly, I am very jealous of the moms that can and do use cloth diapers. I don't have the stomach for it. At least not right now. And if I had the time to garden I would. I would love to have my own veggies growing in a row, or even some fruit hanging from a tree in my yard. Hopefully when Levi gets a little older, he can help me with the garden or at least keep himself busy while I am working in it. And we don't recycle aluminum cans because we don't ever buy soda or drinks in cans. But the one thing I do that is kind of along those lines is make Levi's baby food.

So far we're at stage 1 baby foods, and they are pretty easy to make. My favorite site, and the only site I have used so far to read up on making my own baby food is Wholesome Baby Foods. They have pretty much everything Mamas/Papas need to know about making baby food, storing baby food and reheating baby food.

To make any stage 1 baby food, you just need whatever produce you want to make. a glass dish to bake in, a food processor/blender, and ice cube tray, and some freezer bags.

Some foods you don't eve have to bake, like Avocados, Bananas, Mangoes...But for foods that need to be cooked before serving to baby like sweet potatoes, squash, peaches, pears...BAKING is the best and easiest method.

So far Levi has had a plethora of foods, all made from our little kitchen. And there's no doubt that we're saving money. Especially when one squash is less than a dollar, and yet it makes the equivalent of 6-7 jars of baby food.

Good luck to anyone who wants to try it.

What to do with a baby who doesn't sleep

For the past 2 weeks Levi has refused to sleep at night and will only sleep during the day. So what do mom and dad do? Well we adjusted to his schedule, insane I know, but we have to get sleep somehow. The only advice we've gotten so far has been to try to keep him up all day and then he'll get tired by the time darkness rolls around and then he'll be back to a sleeping schedule.

Sound simple enough. But how do two exhausted, sleep deprived parents stay up all day with a cratankerous baby, when they can hardly keep their eyes open?

And amongst other weird things, Levi has taken to trying to make himself hyperventilate, whenever he gets the slightest bit upset...like when he wants a toy, or is laying on his back, or when he starts to get tired. What happen to just normal crying? I would give anything for that right about now.

Wow, time flies by...100th Post

**My 100th Post was going to be special, a Giveaway was planned, but in light of recent circumstances, listed below there isn't going to be one...sad but true...hopefully soon though so stay tuned.

OK, it's been over 2 months since my last blog post. A lot of that had to do with me just not wanting to get online. And then some was me being so busy with things around the house that I just didn't find time to sit down and write. But in the past 2 1/2 months so many things have happened:

Levi is now 6 1/2 months old, but according to the High Risk Infant Clinic, he is only developed to the age of a 5 month old. Which is fine because he was born 5 weeks early, so no big deal. He now rolls over from his tummy to his back and from his back to his tummy. He grabs his toys, he grabs for food from us, he has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, avocado, nectarines, pears, apples, bananas, peaches, prunes, peas, green beans, and has liked them all except the peas. He still wants to eat about every 2 hours, but I don't mind, cause he is mostly sleeping through the night. He is smiling all the time, laughing when tickled, likes watching Hillsong Kids, and Veggie Tales, and loves to spend time with his Papa.

Justin graduated from Fresno State with his Bachelor's in Spanish, and got accepted into the Master's Program. He has gotten to be so good at taking care of Levi, and is a pro at changing diapers, except when Levi decides to grab his diaper in mid change and gets poop everywhere. And God has allowed us to go through a new and questionable time right now, because Justin has lost his job. He has worked for Blockbuster for the past 4 years, from starting off as a entry level Customer Service Rep to working his way up to being a Store Manager. He was our family's one source of income, so now he is having to find a new job, and it is obviously a very stressful and nerve racking for him and for me.

I have been busy at home, trying to "spring clean," organize, complete projects, taking Levi to appointments, trying to find a pediatrician to see Levi, sell random things on Craigslist to make extra money, calling Whirlpool/Maytag technician and reps to fix our refrigerator, re-doing a rod iron bench, inhaling to much spray paint, throwing Justin a graduation party, scrapbooking memories, planting flowers/plants in our yard, making baby food, and now thinking about getting a job or renting out a room in our house to make some kind of income. Renting a room is a last, last, last resort.

But hopefully we'll get back to the swing of things here online, and offline...so enough with the yackity-yack and on to some pictures.

I made our address plaque

I re-did this rod iron bench, it used to be white and very rusted, and I planted a new Rosemary Bush.

Justin patched a hole in our door, and painted it and installed a new door knob, all by himself.

One of our new windows, and some of my new plants...isn't our grass green (courtesy of weed and feed).
I did a little art project in Levi's room
My new scrapbook/craft station...I will not allow the mess inside to be seen by anyone

We got a new garage door, and another one of our new windows

And look at our handsome boy eating his first bite of sweet potatoes, and don't worry he always looks that serious.

An Afternoon Visit

This will only be post 99, so I am pretty sure that Jennifer will be fine with me using this one up. She will still get the glory of completing the 100th post!! Yeah, she is still thinking of some great contest so be sure to stay tuned for that one.

Since I am have Spring Break this week, I actually have the entire day off, which is extremely rare. So we are spending this afternoon with our friend, Lynda, and her baby, Dawson. I just grabbed some pizzas and salads from Costco to make these easy. Almost did not make it home because the car was trying to be rude and not start. Let's just hope the engine does not randomly die.

Levi was being quite relaxed today, which was out of the norm, especially considering he had just been circumcised two days ago, ha. Well anyways we brought out Levi's blanket and the two boys sprawled out. Despite the occasional ear grab on Levi's part, the two seemed to be fine in each other's presence. Here are a few pictures.

Sick, Sicker, Sickest

So Levi just got over having a sinus infection. And Justin got sick last week and is just now getting better. And yesterday I got sick. And this morning Levi woke up sick. When will it end. I feel like my throat is raw and on fire, and my nose won't stop going from drippy to stuffed. I know if I am feeling bad then Levi must be feeling the same. Poor kid, can't catch a break.

Hope no one else gets the flu or cold this season.
